Hazel S. Taylor, 86, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at home peacefully. She was born June 16, 1932 in South Bend the daughter of Robert and Myrtle (Carty) Short.
Hazel worked for RCA and a lifetime at Western Electric where she retired from in 1984 following 25 years of service. She was an active member of Straughn Community Chapel where she served as a council member on the church board. She loved attending Bible Study, and was active with Women’s Fellowship. Hazel also enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, and mushroom hunting.
She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Taylor November 21, 1961 in Indianapolis where they had one daughter and resided till retirement moving to New Castle in 1991.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Misty (Randy) Tanner; two step daughters, Judy and Karen; grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Dickey and Carla (David) Carter; 6 great grandchildren, Oriana, Taylor, Brayton, Caden, Landen and Casey; several nieces and nephews; special in-laws, Steven and Tracey Tanner; special friends, Sonny Frazier and Larry Protsman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Taylor; brother, Harley (Dorthy) Swickard; sisters, Betty (John) Glynn and Martha Short.
Services will be at 12:00 PM Friday, June 14, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor David Branham officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery in Germantown. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service. Condolences and memories of Hazel may be shared at
