Helen Rutledge Kennedy Batchfield, 95 of New Castle passed away September 16, 2019 following an extended illness, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 7, 1923 to the late Harry and Ethel Harvey Rutledge.
She was an artist and enjoyed needlework and had attended First Assembly of God in New Castle.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Kennedy of New Castle with whom she resided and was her caregiver and Don (Carol) Kennedy of Richmond; four grandchildren, Julie (Brian) Allee of New Castle who also assisted with her care, Christi Duncan of Greenfield, Bruce (Melissa) Kennedy and Tammy Getter both of Ohio; several great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Joan Ewing of Kokomo and Norma Mohn of Sharpsville.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Kennedy and second husband, Horace Batchfield, granddaughter, Karen Ryan, two sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Dr., New Castle, IN 47362; with Pastor Stephen Gallaway officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
