Hollis Steve Evans

Hollis Steve Evans, 85 of New Castle passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at The Beacon Assisted Living Facility in Gulf Breeze, Florida. He was born May 18, 1935 in Byrdstown Tennessee to the late Fred and Mary (Huddleston) Evans.
Hollis was a 1955 graduate of New Castle High School. He retired from Dana Corporation where he served as UAW President Local #371. Hollis was active in local government serving as City Council President and City Engineer. He enjoyed coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball as well as studying Civil War history.
Survivors include four children, Tim (Janette) Evans of Allen, Texas, Mike Evans of New Castle, Tammy (Todd) Jarvis of Heath, Texas, Richard Evans of Heartland, Texas; grandchildren, Patricia Beckwith, Lauren Evans, Justin Jarvis, John Michael Evans, Jeremy Jarvis, Macy Evans, Abby Evans; brothers Jim (Florence) Evans, Billy (Debbie) Evans; cousin Ralph Huddleston, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Joanne (Padgett) Evans; siblings, Morris Evans, Lois (Teague) Evans, Donald Evans, Norman Evans, David Evans.
A family graveside service at South Mound Cemetery will be scheduled for a later date.
