Howard Robert "Bob" Youse
August 12, 1935 — December 8, 2020
Howard Robert “Bob” Youse passed away on December 8, 2020. He was born August 12, 1935 to George and Anna Mae (Magee) Youse. He was one of 9. He married the love of his life, Ruth Ellen Large, in 1956. Bob and Ruth had 2 children Randy (Rhonda) and Lisa (Kevin), 5 grandchildren, Cory (Donna), Kaleigh (Matt), Matthew, Nathaniel and Ashley, 3 great grandchildren Jacob, Adelaide and Elora and 4 step grandchildren, Joshua, Austin, Nicholas and Stephen, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob never knew a stranger. He was known for his kindness and giving spirit. He enjoyed refinishing antiques, going to flea markets and garage sales, fishing, IU Basketball, Notre Dame Football, the Packers and the Yankees. In the last 2 years, he enjoyed leaving his assisted living and going to the casino, on long car rides and having a meal with his family. His favorite daily activities were the many phone calls to his family and friends. He always said his biggest achievements in life were working hard and overcoming the poverty he grew up in and raising his family.
He was a veteran, serving both in the Army and the Air Force. He retired from Western Electric (Lucent Technologies), working 30 years in Indianapolis and 10 years in Columbus Ohio where he resided until 2013 when he returned to Knightstown.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 1996 and several members of her family, also 6 sisters (Jean, Margaret, Betty, Wanda, Wilma (Sugar) and Judy), 2 brothers Dick (died in Korean War) and Dewey and several nieces and nephews
He will be laid to rest with his wife at a private graveside ceremony that will take place at St Joseph’s Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio officiated by Stewart Roberts.
