Iva Jane Swoveland, 93, of Modoc passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at Parker Healthcare in Parker City. She was born August 18, 1927 in Delaware County, a daughter of the late Wilmer and Bertha (Hodson) Rodeffer.
Iva attended Modoc High School where she was the High School Band playing the accordion. She was a self taught musician and enjoyed playing the accordion, organ and piano. She was a member of the Buck Creek Church of the Brethren and was the organist for many years. Iva was a hairdresser, enjoyed painting, was an amazing cook and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Bruce) Morehous of Modoc; grandchildren, April (Ryan) Stolle and Brett (Jennifer) Morehous; great grandchildren, Garrett Stolle, Nathan, William & Gracie Morehous; brothers-in-law, Jerry Cross and Ernest Swoveland; sister-in-law, Carolyn Rodeffer; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Swoveland; siblings, Wilbur Rodeffer, Katrina Brewer, Reba Carey, Betty Sue Cross and Donald Lee Rodeffer; and a sister-in-law, Mary Swoveland.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Buck Creek Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Losantville. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Due to COVID-19 and the governor’s mandate, face coverings are required.
