James "Michael" Ensley

James Michael Ensley, 73, of New Castle passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 surrounded by many loved ones at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born March 28, 1948 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a son of John and Mary (Hakes) Ensley.

Michael joined the Marine Corp in 1965, serving in Vietnam. He most recently enjoyed working for the Department of Natural Resources at the gun range. Michael was a member of Heritage Apostolic Tabernacle in Muncie. He enjoyed working outside, playing Scrabble and especially spending time with his beloved dog, Dakota. Michael was a loyal husband and proud father.

Survivors include four step children, Misty Major-Cummings of Avon, Ashley Perdue of Muncie, Matt (Kellie) Major of New Palestine and Danielle (Jared) Johnson of New Castle; sister, Deborah Perry of Longmont, Colorado and Rick (Julie) Ensley of Fort Wayne; twelve grandchildren; one great granddaughter and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer (Jackson) Ensley.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Mike Perdue officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
