James "JC" Cletus Talbott

James “JC” Cletus Talbott, 97, a resident of Mooreland, Indiana, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. He was born December 14, 1924 in Albany, Kentucky, a son of the late Edgar Herschel and Bessie (Thomas) Talbott.

JC was a farmer and worked for Chrysler Corporation for 33 years, the last several years in skilled trades as a furnace repairman. JC & Anne celebrated 75 years of marriage on August 30, 2022. They had a truck route where they sold fruits and vegetables. He always enjoyed driving through the country side and visiting with his customers & neighbors. JC served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner onboard ships in the Pacific during WWII. He served as a past Worshipful Master of the Spiceland Masonic Lodge. JC also took great pride in being a judge for the Mooreland Fair vegetable contest. Most of all, JC enjoyed visits from his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He would always tell them stories of his time in the U.S. Navy & countries he had visited.

Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Anne (Ferguson) Talbott; son, Jimmy (Jennifer) Talbott of Indianapolis; five granddaughters, Monica (Jeff) Henkel, April (Rick) Dugger, Amanda (Tim) Walls, Kristi Talbott and Lori (Greg) Stansbury; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Juanita (James) Harger and Wanda (Joe) Baumgartner; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, JC was preceded in death by a son, Steve Talbott; brothers, Willie (Mildred) Talbott, Keen (Patty) Talbott and Norman Talbott; sister, Marie (Robert) Ellis.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Charles Dugger officiating and Masonic Rites conducted by New Castle Masonic Lodge #91. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery with military honors conducted by New Castle American Legion and the United States Navy.
