James R. “Jim” Semler, 63, of New Castle passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born October 12, 1955 in Henry County to the late Fred and Helen (Razor) Semler.
Jim retired from the U.S. Navy in 2001 and from the Navy Shipyard in Bremerton, WA where he served for 16 years. He was a graduate of Blue River Valley High School and formerly attended Crossroads Church in Bremerton, WA. Jim enjoyed woodworking, photography and traveling in their R.V.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Lori Semler; children, Amy (Steve) Eads of Georgia, Kristen Semler of Bremerton, WA, Angela (Mike) Gailey of Vancouver, WA and Foley Abbott of Vancouver, WA; 10 grandchildren, Delta, Brandon, Reneelyn, Hannah, Gabriella, Timothy, Chandler, Triston, Madison and Foley; 3 brothers, Don (Kathy) Semler of New Castle, Ron (Linda) Semler of Plainfield and Jerry (Trina) Semler of North Manchester; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Chris Gamello officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery with Military rites be conducted by a contingent of the U.S. Navy, New Castle American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12p.m. prior to the service.
