Janice “Sarge” Parrish Halphin, 85, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Heritage House Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 4, 1933 in Salt Lick, KY, a daughter of the late William and Mayme (Norris) Parrish.
A 1951 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, she also graduated from Indiana Business College in Muncie. She retired from Modernfold following 50 years of service. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in New Castle and had volunteered at Henry County Hospital for several years.
She loved being with her family and friends, traveling, and country music.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four sisters, Wanda West, Lois (Bill) Archey, Sue (Porter) Coffey, and Darlene Parrish, all of New Castle; two brothers, Cletius “Bud” Parrish of Orange City, FL, and David Parrish of New Castle; several nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Lee Wilhelm of New Castle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Bell and Phyllis Wilhelm; brothers-in-law, Jim Bell and Irvin West; sister-in-law, Sandy Parish.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 16, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Alecia Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery.
