Janice Rose Harry

Janice Rose (Alexander) Harry, age 81, of New Castle passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born April, 1, 1937 in New Castle to the late Charles Edward and Millie Juanita (Jackson) Alexander.

Jan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed. She loved her family and enjoyed spending her time with them. She had a quick mind, a great sense of humor, was always ready to travel, and loved reading and the library in general. Jan also enjoyed quilting, needle work, crafts and especially collecting antiques. In her younger days, Jan spent several years working at The Clinic as a lab tech and was a 1955 graduate of New Castle High School.

Jan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald Eugene Harry of New Castle; two daughters, Angi McCarty of Winnipeg, Canada and Marci Paden of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Jennifer (husband:Taylor) Paden Stanley of Wilmington, NC; two great grandchildren, William and Margaret Stanley; brother, Donald (wife: Joan) Alexander of Ridgeville, IN; sister, Judith (husband: Wallace) Hanson of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, Jan is preceded in death by her infant son, Brady Scott Harry; brother, Ralph Hannah and sisters, Bertha Mathes and Mary Elizabeth Hannah.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Inurnment will be at South Mound Cemetery- West Lawn Addition at the convenience of the family.
