Jennifer Anna Thornburg Odom

Jennifer Anna Thornburg Odom, 71, of West Lafayette, IN, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020, at IU Health Hospital Lafayette. She was born November 23, 1949, in Mooreland, IN, to the late Ervin and Martha (Hallman) Thornburg.

Jennifer was a graduate of Blue River Valley High School and of Ball State University, where she studied Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in 1975 at Countryside Christian School in Cambridge, MD, and later taught at Harlan Christian School in Harlan, IN, before returning to Cambridge and retiring from Countryside in 2007. On August 9, 1980, she married David Odom in Lafayette, IN, and he survives. Jennifer loved teaching children and enjoyed cooking, Shirley Temple movies and collecting Shirley Temple memorabilia.

Along with her husband, David, she is survived by her siblings: Julie (RD) Laird of Lafayette, IN, Sara Denney of Mooreland, IN, Sue Zaragoza of Kokomo, IN, Mark (Jane) Thornburg of Appleton, WI, Karl (Connie) Thornburg of Lubbock, TX, Kevin (Susan) Thornburg of Mooreland, IN, Jon (Diana) Thornburg of Lynn, IN, and Margaret Thornburg of Mooreland, IN. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Alfred Thornburg.
