Jerry Paul Carnes, 66, of Greensburg and formerly of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He lost his life to cancer and heart failure. He was born August 16, 1954 in New Castle, a son of the late James and Lois (Maple) Carnes.
He was a 1973 graduate of Union High School in Modoc. Jerry worked at Firestone, Duffy Tool & Die and was a truck driver for Heilig Meyer. Jerry & his wife, Teresa had their own yard and construction business in West Virginia. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, yard work, making furniture and setting up at flea markets. Jerry loved spending time with his family, his family was his life.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Teresa (Thornbro)Carnes; children, Melissa (Travis) Burns, Jeremy (Laura) Carnes, Victoria Carnes, Josh Carnes (significant other, Robyn) and Rose Carnes; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Olivia, Audrea, Isaac, Bradon, Landden, Daisy, Xander and Jonas; two sisters, Diana (Butch) Gillock and Beth Hopkins; six brothers, Jim (Patsy) Carnes, Tom (Janet) Carnes, Bruce (Sharon) Carnes, Robert Carnes, Jeff Carnes and Brian (Nancy) Carnes; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, David Carnes; sister, Jennifer “Penny” Rice; niece, Teresa Rice and a nephew, Troy Gillock.
