Jerry Don Pope

Jerry Don Pope, 61, of New Castle passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at IU Health Methodist in Indianapolis. He was born March 3, 1959 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Donald E. Pope and Dorothy (Holcomb) Pope.
A 1977 graduate of Blue River High School, he was President of the FFA and played basketball and baseball. He served in the U.S. Army for 4 years and was in the honor guard at Arlington National Cemetery. Jerry enjoyed coaching little league and wrestling and watching his kids wrestle. He was in sales at New Castle Ford Dealership for many years. He had a passion for playing poker, euchre, rummy and playing games with his family. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed corn hole, arm wrestling and bon fires.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Dorothy Pope; children, Chris (Lisa) Pope, Josh Pope, Whitney Saul, Noah Pope, Zachary (Tiffany) Pope, Luke (Carlina) Pope, Eli Cohan, Nick (Ashley) Cohan and Jenni (Jim) Widmer; grandchildren, Jayden & Kaydee Pope, Tripp & Gunner Saul, Jacob James, Owen Pope and Rorie & Callie Belle Cohan; brother, Matt (Lisa) Pope; sister, Susan (Randy) Polston; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Pope; brother Bruce Pope and aunts & uncles.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Curt Elliott and Matt Daffron officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 and the governor’s mandate face coverings must be worn.
