Joe Lyons

Joe Lyons, 77, of New Castle passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 after a long courageous battle with cancer, at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. He was born November 15, 1942 in Cooper, KY to the late Robert Lyons and Virginia (Wade) Lyons-Booker.
He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the New Castle Masonic Lodge #91, Scottish Rites and Murat Shrine. Joe was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on his tractors, tinkering around in the barn and he especially loved taking care of his family. He loved teaching his grandchildren how to work on things and enjoyed being part of their lives.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kaye Lyons; children, Ken (Laura) Lyons and Tim (Debi) Lyons; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kaylee and Kevin Lyons; mother, Virginia Lyons-Booker; aunt, Emajean Lyons, several nieces, nephews, in-laws and a host of friends.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Jack Lyons; grandparents, and step-father, Bill Booker.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be Thursday, February 20th from 4 – 8 p.m. with Masonic services at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, 2700 S. Main St., New Castle, IN 47362.
