John Rex Dabney

John Rex Dabney, 88, of New Castle passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at The Waters of New Castle. He was born March 1, 1935 in New Castle to the late John and Laura Dabney.
Rex was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean War. He retired from Indiana Gas after 20 years of service and then worked as a guard at Indiana University, Danielson Center in New Castle. Rex was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed landscaping, fishing and racing. More than anything, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rex leaves cherished memories with grandchildren, Adam Dabney of New Castle and Breanna (Camren) Massengale of Middletown; great-grandchildren: Jaycob Dabney of New Castle and Brooklyn Massengale of Middletown; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death by wife, Phyllis (Crump) Dabney; son Jeff Dabney; sister, Bonnie Smith; brother, Delbert Dabney.
