John Michael Garvey, Indianapolis, IN, died on November 14, 2020. He leaves his wife Marilynn Wales Garvey, his sons Patrick Garvey, Fishers, IN (Kim) and Michael Garvey, Glen Ellyn, IL (Triona) and daughter, Meghan Garvey, New Orleans, LA; Grandchildren: Nathan, Cassidy, Saffron and Cameryn, sister, Martha Garvey Bailey, New Castle, niece Gail “Tudy” Brown MacKay. Other family who preceded him in death were siblings Jean Garvey Smith, Jim Garvey, and Rosemary Garvey Brown.
He was born in New Castle, IN in 1939 to Francis and Leone Brown Garvey. As the baby of the family, he was doted on by his loving older sisters. His family belonged to St. Anne Catholic Church where John served as an altar boy. John attended New Castle High School where he met his wife of 56 years. He is a graduate of Purdue University. He retired as partner-owner of Farrar-Garvey and Associates Civil Engineering Co.
John was known for his wisecracking, yet sentimental ways. He loved country music, Purdue sports, and preparing gourmet meals for his family. He maintained a lifelong faith in God and the United States of America.
Services are pending with Hinsey-Brown Funeral Home in New Castle because of COVID-19.
