John A. Haynes, 67, of Mooreland passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born June 23, 1953 in Henry County to Ralph A. and Lula M. (Hall) Haynes.
John was a 1971 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School, retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and was a member of the Eagles Lodge #933. He was a true handy man and enjoyed working on his farm and caring for his livestock. He was man of few words, but John was a loving dad and grandpa and loved being with his family. He will truly be missed.
He is survived by his mother, Lula M. Haynes; daughter, Andrea Powers; granddaughters, Brynlee & Cambree Powers all of New Castle; sisters, Carolyn Riley of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dorothy Elaine (Claude) Hinton of New Castle; several nieces and nephews and a handful of lifelong friends who were always there when needed.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Samuel F. and Nancy Rose Haynes and maternal grandparents, Russell V. and Crystal Leona Hall.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Matt Daffron officiating. Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Masks are required. Memorial contributions may be made his granddaughters, Brynlee & Cambree Powers, College Fund c/o Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Drive New Castle, IN 47362.
