John Kevin Phelps

John Kevin Phelps, age 56, of New Castle, Indiana passed way unexpectedly on Thursday, August 29th 2019.

John was born in New Castle, Indiana on May 15, 1963. He graduated from Chrysler High School 1981.John worked for many years at the New Castle State Hospital, for the railroad, and in construction. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, gardening, traveling, and horseback riding and listening to music. John loved spending time with his family and was a good friend to so many.

John is survived by his brother Vernon Phelps, Jr (Carol) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, sister Valesa Moore (Garland) of Indianapolis, sisters Angel Gray and Jeannie Goins, of New Castle, sister Julie Clark (Rickie) of New Castle, brother Kyle Phelps (Maria) of Dayton, Ohio, and brother Kelly Phelps (Andrea) of Dayton, Ohio. He also leaves to cherish his memory several nieces and nephews, his companion Debra Maier, her sister Gina, his faithful and most loyal dog Chopper, and a host of family and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Maria Phelps.

There will be no public viewing however the family invites all to come to a Celebration of Life service that will be held at The New Wiley Church, 205 S. 21st Street, New Castle, Indiana on Saturday, September 7th, 2019 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a repast to immediately follow. Pastor Zane Bousum of Spirit of Life Church will be officiating.
