John Alan Sorrell

John Alan Sorrell, 61, a resident of Knightstown passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at his home. He was born November 1, 1958 in New Castle, the son of Lois Thompson Sorrell Cook Roland and James Fredrick Sorrell.
John served in the US Navy where he was stationed on the US Morton and was based in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. A graduate of Knightstown High School, he attended Ball State University where he earned degrees in Environmental Science and Biology. Although he was on medical disability from the Navy, John was very proud of his military service.
Survivors include his mother: Lois Roland of Knightstown; a sister: Roberta Sorrell of Knightstown; nieces: Kendra Rose and family, Tiffany Rose-Johnson and family and a nephew: Shane Rose; also, his long time special friend: Jeff Lewis of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his sister: Kathy Sorrell Spears; grandparents: Robert and Shirley Thompson and Christy and Helen Sorrell and his father: James Sorrell.
