John D. Thomas

John D. Thomas, 63, of New Lisbon, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Henry Community Health in New Castle. He was born February 10, 1958 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late John Alexander and Myrtle Colleen (Suratt) Thomas.

A 1976 graduate of Tri High School, John was a member of UAW Local 371 where he was a Union Representative. He retired from Maxwell Milling in Hagerstown in 2020 after 6 years of service. John was previously employed at Intat, where he was a Union Representative, Modernfold Corporation & Luellen Brothers. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, golfing and watching the Indianapolis Colts.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Patricia “Tricia” (Rinberger) Thomas, whom he married June 24, 1980; brother, Don (Robin) Thomas of New Lisbon; nieces & nephews, Carrie Smith, Cylee Butler, Mariangella Glaze, Jeremy Thomas and Nathan Gniffke; great nephews, Kaedon Smith, Andrew, Adam & Alex Glaze; brother-in-law, Harold Rinberger of New Castle and sister-in-law, Carole (Charles) Butler of Rushville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Thomas and father-in-law, Harold F. Rinberger.

Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Tobby Smith officiating.
