Johnnie Dean Martin

Johnnie Dean Martin, 73, of Lake Placid, Florida passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at his residence. He was born January 8, 1948, in Pageton, West Virginia, the son of the late Mack Kyle & Virginia Mae (Belcher) Martin.

Johnnie proudly served his country in the United States Army and was discharged in 1968. He was a local business owner and worked as a heavy equipment operator. He served his community as the president of the Greensboro Town Board for many years, and more recently as president of the Lake Gardens Corporation in Lake Placid, Florida.

He is survived by a daughter, Johnna (Michael) Anderson of Greenwood, Indiana, grandchildren Wren and Wallace, sisters Maxine (Grady) Thomasson of Avon, Indiana, Katherine (Ralph) Keaton of Higginsville, Missouri, Linda Bowling of Greensboro, Indiana, brothers Paul (Linda) Martin of Lake Placid, Florida, Arvil Martin of Columbus, Indiana, and special friends Robert Rogers and Linda Haltam of Lake Placid, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Eugene, Bobby, James and David Martin, and sisters Mary Carol Stine and Aurelia Harmon.

Services will be at 1:00pm Friday April 30, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown. Burial will follow at Hicksite Cemetery with military honors conducted by the US Army and Knightstown American Legion. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of service.
