Juanita L. Hammond

Juanita L. Hammond, 92, of New Castle passed from this life on March 6, 2020 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born June 14, 1927 in Indianapolis to Orville and Opal (Barrett) Bright.
An employee of The Kroger Company for more than 27 years, she retired early to a life of gardening and sewing. Juanita was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Her fascination with color psychology led her to later study color and its effects on human behavior, mood and physiological processes.
Survivors include her daughter, Annette (Steve) Stone of New Castle; son, Brad Hammond of New York, New York; grandson, Robert Vanderwall (Kristine) Hammond of London, England; four great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Bright of Muncie; an aunt, Evelyn Jeffers of New Castle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, William Hammond; two sisters, Virginia Cox and Wanda Garmon; and a brother, Gerald Bright.
Cremation will be provided by Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with a private Celebration of Life to be held on her birthday, June 14, 2020.
