Judy Thurman

Judy Thurman, 83, of New Castle passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. She was born October 21, 1937 in Henry County, Indiana to the late Howard and Dorothy Mae (Bailey) Snodgress.

Upon graduating high school, Judy married her high school sweetheart, Jim Thurman, on July 2, 1955 and spent 60 wonderful years together before his passing in 2015. After retiring from Western Electric, Judy became a homemaker. She adored the time she spent with her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Judy enjoyed playing the piano, doing crossword puzzles, reading and loved her sports.

She is survived by her children, Jay (Marla) Thurman of Kokomo, Joni (Bruce) Lee of New Castle, Joel (Julie) Thurman of Anderson; grandchildren, Rodney (Ashley) Thurman, Jeffery (Alina) Thurman, Kegan Thurman, Jacob (Allison) Thurman, Zachary (Amber) Thurman, Bailey Cook, Casey (Michael) Cecil, Kirstie (P.J. Jolley) New, Jordan (Colton) Richards, Josie Thurman, Jackson Thurman and Jared Thurman; twelve great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Vickie Thurman; brother, Phil (Nancy) Snodgress; sister, Myrna (Doug) Reeves; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Jim E. Thurman; son, Jeffery E. Thurman and sister, Norma Beavers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Services will be Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with burial to follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
