Karen Lee Cole

Karen Lee Cole, 67, of Mooreland, IN, went to be with her Savior at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at her home, while surrounded by her family, following a long battle with cancer. She was born June 27, 1950, in South Bend, Indiana, to Herman Edward and Carolyn (Wonderlick) Glaser.

Karen grew up in South Bend, IN, where she graduated high school. She attended Hanover College and graduated from Western Michigan University with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and worked in that field before having her own children. For the past 29 years, she resided in an 1840’s farmhouse on 18 acres that she helped her husband and sons restore.

She enjoyed organic food and homeschooled her children before most people knew what those things were. In recent years, Karen enjoyed teaching kindergarten at Heritage Hall School in Muncie, hiking, gardening, traveling, caring for grandchildren, spending time with her family, but she most enjoyed encouraging those who come into her life with the love and joy of her God, through her words, actions, and her contagious smile. She attended Grace Baptist Churches in New Castle and Muncie.

She is survived by her husband, Harland Cole of Mooreland,; sons, Ted (Michelle) Hamilton of Pensacola, FL, and their daughter, Evelyn, James (Gina) Hamilton, and their children, Annika and Timothy, of Hagerstown; daughters, Elsbeth (Dustin) Antle, and their children, Aiden and Harper, of New Castle, and Abigail Cole of Fishers; her father, Herman Edward Glaser of Palm Coast, FL; sister, Linda Frank of Beaverton, OR; brothers, Scott Glaser of Hinsdale, IL, and John Glaser of Palm Coast, FL.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Timothy Hamilton and her mother, Carolyn Glaser.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Denny Neal officiating.
