Karrena Kay Johnston, 20, of New Castle passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at her home. She was born March 8, 1998 in Muncie to James and Sherrell (Hammond) Johnston.
Karrena is a 2016 graduate of Blue River Valley High School and currently employed at Hillcroft Services. She was very active in the Delaware County Special Olympics, participating in bowling, basketball and track. She loved reading history and true crime books and also enjoyed coloring and listening to music. Karrena was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. She had a huge heart and loved everyone, especially her nieces, nephews, Special Olympic family and fellow church members.
She is survived by her parents, James and Sherrell Johnston of New Castle; brother, Shannon (Stephanie) Fields of Muncie; sister, Shasta (Marvin) Williams of Yorktown; grandmother, Sue Johnston; nieces and nephews, Peyton Fields, Alexis Fields, Savannah Williams and Griffen Williams; several aunts and uncles; special friends, Jackie , Austin, Darlene New, Michelle Turner and all her special Olympic family.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Granny Hammond, Ernest Johnston, Charles Hammond and several aunts and uncles.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Charles Dugger officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery.
