Kathleen “Kathy” Vannatta, 63, of Springport went to be with the Lord Saturday May 4, 2019. She was born on February 3, 1956 in Henry County to the late Marvin Collins and Vada (Moody) Collins of Mt. Summit.
Kathy was very family oriented, a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and best friend. She was a very caring person who would do anything for anyone and always placed others first. Kathy’s outlook on life was “one day at a time” and to take things in stride with an even keel demeanor. Most importantly, she was a Christian woman who loved the Lord. Kathy has been a devoted lifelong member of the Mt. Summit Christian Church and rededicated her life to the Lord in 1999. She served the church in various positions over the years such as elder, deacon, youth leader, and also several different committees. Kathy was a 1974 graduate of Blue River Valley High School and also attended college at Ball State. She has been employed in education most of her working life with her most recent and current position at Blue River Valley Schools as an instructional assistant in the special education department. Kathy had also worked at the Summit Mart located in Mt Summit.
In addition to her mother, Kathy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert “Jerry” Vannatta of Springport; daughters, Bethany (companion: Brian Howe) Vannatta of New Castle, Kaylee Vannatta of Springport; grandchildren, Claar (Jay) Lindon of OH, Jilliann, Zion, Zane, and Zerik Howe all of New Castle; great granddaughter, Adaline Lindon; siblings, Mike (Cindy) Collins of Kokomo, Kevin (Roxanne) Collins of Springport; two aunts, several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special extended family, David and Rachelle Campbell and their children Justinn and Star.
In addition to her father, Kathy was preceded in death by her best friend Norma Savage.
