Kathy Begley

Kathy Begley of Liberty, In, went to be with Jesus on May 13, 2021. She was born on October 24, 1951 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Ivan Reed and Velma Carr.

She graduated from Arlington High School in Indianapolis in 1969. Kathy married Barry Begley on October 18, 1996. After a long career, she retired from Schneider Electric in Oxford, OH.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a faithful believer of Jesus Christ, loved reading her Bible and was very active at Mt. Pleasant Church. Kathy was also very proud of her family, and the best friend anyone could ever have. She was an exceptional homemaker and filled her days with sharing her home, interests and homemade meals with family and friends. Kathy was known for carrying delicious dishes to so many people to brighten their day or just to let them know she cared. Everyone who came through her door was treated to wonderful meals that probably included blackberry cobbler and lots of hot coffee, and then her gracious hospitality sent you away with take home containers and several hugs.

Kathy loved learning about the history of her family and an enviable knowledge of antiques grew from this deep devoted study. Kathy and Barry also shared a passion for collecting and through the years built many lifelong friendships.

Kathy was humble, hardworking, devoted, thoughtful, kind, loyal, unselfish and loving. She loved America and prayed consistently for all of us and our beloved country. She lived well, loved everyone, and laughed in spite of circumstances. She has left a huge void in so many hearts, but she has given us wonderful memories and the hope of spending eternity with her someday.

She is survived by her son, Jody (Angie) Blakley; granddaughters, Blake Woollard and Chloe Blakley; sisters, Carol (Rex) Hudson and Sheila Burt, along with many other beloved family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan Reed, and Velma Carr, the father of her children, Leon Blakley; her daughter, Amy Woollard; sister, Dixie Pollock and recently, her beloved husband of 24 years, Barry Begley.

Services will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday May 19, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Dave Fields officiating with burial at McCray Cemetery to follow. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service. Kathy’s family ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Mt. Pleasant Church 479 S. Mt Pleasant Rd. Liberty, IN 47353.
