Kenneth Gene Waterman

December 4, 1936 — January 16, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth Gene Waterman, Sr. announces his passing on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at the age of 81 years.

Kenneth will be lovingly remembered by his two children, Kenneth Waterman Jr. and Kelly (Ken) West. Kenneth will also be forever remembered by his four grandchildren, Kaitlin, Brian, Steven, and Sydney and his sister, Virginia (Bob) Merritt and numerous nieces, nephews, as well as extended family and dear friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Christina Ann Waterman; his brother William David Waterman; and his sister Verna Waterman.

Ken was born in Treat, Arkansas on December 4, 1936 to William David and Stella Mae Waterman. Following high school, he moved to California where he began his 43-year career at Anchor Glass Container Corporation and met and married the love of his life, Christina. Ken was a proud American and patriot, serving in the United States Army from 1960-1962. Ken and Tina moved all over the country as part of Ken’s lucrative career, forming lasting friendships wherever they lived.

Ken loved music (bluegrass in particular) and “tinkered” with every string instrument made, often entertaining his friends and family. He had a great passion for sports, with a particular love of basketball (both watching and playing). Ken fancied himself as a bit of a “picker,” always on the prowl for “treasures” of any kind. His sense of humor and positivity was infectious and he genuinely never had a bad day. Ken will be remembered for so many of these loving qualities, but most of all for simply being the greatest of all time son, brother, son-in-law, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.
Private Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.
