Lanny "Keith" Ferrell

Lanny “Keith” Ferrell, 71, of New Castle passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born September 21, 1949 in Albany, Kentucky, a son of the late James H. Ferrell and Melba L. Riddle.

A 1968 graduate of Knightstown High School, he was veteran of the United States Army. Keith owned and operated several businesses in the Henry County area throughout the years. He was an excavator and skilled leather craftsman and made a commemorative Roy Rogers gun holster, saddles, bridles and saddle bags. Keith loved restoring old wagons, collecting guns, antiques, Dodge Power Wagons and Willy’s Jeeps. An animal lover, he enjoyed horses, mules and anything Cowboy.

Keith was a member of the Eagles Lodge, SASS (Single Action Shooting Society), National Stagecoach & Freight Wagon Association, Knightstown American Legion Post #152, Leather Craft Guild, NRA and National Quarter Horse Association. He loved traveling out west and enjoyed Civil War Reenactments. Spending time with his family was the most important thing in his life, especially his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include his three children, Keithea (Clint) Hollars of Carthage, Lanny Roy Jacob “Jake” Ferrell of New Castle and Melba Cynthia “Leigh” Ferrell of New Castle; grandchildren, Riley and Jacey Hollars; three brothers, James Michael Ferrell , Steven Kent (Kathy) Ferrell and Timothy Fowler all of New Castle; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Max Riddle; sister-in-law, Karen Ferrell.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Hicksite Cemetery with Pastor Roger Hendricks officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Knightstown American Legion Post #152. Memorial contributions may be given to the Stagecoach Society: NSFWA, President Jeff McManus, Drawer 54, Greybull, WY 82426.
