Lena Grigsby, age 90, a resident of Senior Living at Forest Ridge in New Castle, passed away Monday July 9, 2018 at IU Health, Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born September 13, 1927 in Sullivan, Indiana to the late Fred and Gertrude (Terry) Puckett.
She was employed as a motor route driver for the Courier Times and had worked as head cook for several area restaurants. A pastor’s wife, she raised 7 children and she was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God and Church 52 in Indianapolis. Lena loved cooking, entertaining, and playing games. She was very social and led wheelchair exercising and devotions at Forest Ridge. Lena especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Sandra (Phillip)Meade of Noblesville, Mike Grigsby of Fort Worth,Texas, Linda DeHamer of DesMoines, IA, Vickie (Greg) House of New Castle, Diane (Dan) York of New Castle, Ty (Dr. Tom) Worster of Bloomington, IN, and Brenda (Don) Sparks of New Castle; 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Grigsby of Bedford, TX; brothers, Jerry (Joyce) Puckett of Chattanooga, TN and Don (Sharon) Puckett of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Reverend James Grigsby in 1999; sister, Betty McWilliams; two brothers, Gleason and Billy Bob Puckett.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Kevin Holt and Phillip Meade officiating.
