Lewis “Lee” Hoyt, 80, of Knightstown and formerly of Indianapolis, IN whom passed away Saturday May 22, 2021 at his residence. He was born on January 19, 1941 in Guthrie Center, IA, a son of the late Floyd and Genevieve (Holmes) Hoyt.
Lee retired from Elliott-Williams in Indianapolis following approximately 40 years of service. He was employed as management for the former company that constructed custom walk-in coolers. He was a humble but proud 10 year veteran of the US Navy, ADR2 serving on the US Princeton (PACFLT) during the Vietnam War. Lee was a member of the Knightstown American Legion Post #152 and life member of the VFW. He enjoyed wintering in Florida with his wife, Jeannie. Lee had a passion for farming; it was that passion and a desire to own a tractor, which motivated Lee and Jeannie to move to the Knightstown area 28 years ago and have a small farm.
Lee is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jeannie Hoyt ; daughter, Holly (Bob) Kistler of Noblesville; three grandchildren, Lucy, Lexie , and Luke Kistler all of Noblesville, IN; three great grandchildren, Bentley, Maddie and McKenna all of Noblesville, IN; brother, Dennis “Dutch”(Sandy) Hoyt of Racine, WI; sisters, Ann (Mike) Boone of South Carolina and Laura (Mike) Sheeder of Guthrie Center, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clinton Hoyt.
Services will be at 2:00pm Thursday May 27, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service –Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post #152 and the US Navy. Visitation will be from 12:00pm-2:00pm prior to the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Knightstown American Legion Post # 152.
