Louise Rust

November 25, 1925 — November 10, 2017

Louise Rust, a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend, passed away on November 10, 2017, only ten days away from her ninety-second birthday.

Louise was born in Monticello, KY on November 25, 1925, the daughter of the late Haskell and Wilma Reno. She lived in Monticello for only three months and then moved to New Castle, IN where she was a life-long resident.

She was married to her beloved husband, Palmer “Rusty” Rust, who after fifty-six years of marriage to Louise passed away in 1998. She had three sons, Norman (Betty), New Castle, the oldest son, who died in 2011, Theodore (Susan), Connersville, the youngest son, who died in 1996 and David (Nikki) who resides in Appleton, WI. She is further survived by seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren all of whom were the joy of her life, especially in her later years. Her grandchildren include Nora (Steve) Rust, Kathy Eldridge (partner Doug) and Rebecca Rust (partner Ken), Kevin (Angela) Rust, Eric (Courtney) Rust, Jennifer (Matt) Goodpaster and Stephanie (Chad) Dunwiddie. She was great-grandmother to Nick Rust (partner Andrea), Rachel (Keith) Johnisee, Rick Blevins, Heather Eldridge, Eric Eldridge, Joe Lilly, Hailey Goodpaster, Logan Taylor, Trey Akers, Nicholas Rust and Sydney Marie Rust. Her great-great-grandchildren include Isaiah, Gabriel, Malachi and Noah Rust and Ava Mae Jaggers-Rust and Aiden Johnisee.

Louise built her life around her family, always hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas at her home on Westwood Road for the entire clan, attending baseball, football and basketball games, babysitting whenever and as often as she could and loving each and every member of the family. She also enjoyed her close friends on the Ohio River where she and Rusty docked their cabin cruiser, the Lady Lou, for many years. She was very involved with her church and loved her Lord. Her garden and the flowers she grew were always beautiful and she especially took great pride in her roses. They truly were beautiful. In Louise’s later years she lived at Raintree Square in New Castle where she enjoyed the many friends she made and the activities provided for the residents. Her final residence was at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle. Louise was a sharp-witted woman who could make every one laugh with her humor but could also make everyone feel better with her sage advice. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Glen Oaks Health Campus for the care Louise received.
