Lyle D. Lovell, 94, of Knightstown, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Morristown Manor. He was born January 25, 1925 in Betsy, KY the son of Charles Howard and Edna Julia (Garth) Lovell.
Lyle was in the 38th Infantry Division stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He married the love of his life on November 22, 1972, Lois Jean Low. They were longtime members of Knightstown Wesleyan Church and Spiceland Church of the Nazarene. Lyle was employed at the Keen Farm before beginning his career with Charles A. Beard School Corporation. After retirement, he loved having coffee with his friends and doing remodeling work for others. He was an avid gardener and loved taking care of his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Jimmy Lovell of Franklin, Lucinda (Michael) Gross of North Vernon, IN, David Lovell of Grayson, KY; grandchildren; James Lovell of New Castle, Amy (Denvie) Angel of Indianapolis, Shawnda (Rob) Whitfield of Carthage, Jordan Lovell of Shelbyville; thirteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Roger Abraham officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the U.S. Army and Knightstown American Legion.
