Marion Adkins III, 71, of Knightstown passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 1, 1949 in Rushville to the late Marion Adkins, Jr. and Rose Ann (Hood) Adkins.
Marion farmed for many years. In addition to farming, he retired from General Motors after 33 years. Following retirement he loved being employed by Henry County Hospital as a greeter until April of 2013. Marion was a long time member of Knightstown First Christian Church where he served as a Deacon, head of Benevolent Committee and a Sunday School Teacher. Marion was a man of great faith and always offered to pray with and for others. He also served on the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Henry County.
Marion enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. When he was with his grandkids he was the biggest kid of the bunch. Marion was always known for having an immaculate yard and landscaping. He loved to work outside whether it was in his garden or in his yard. He loved going to auctions and garage sales where he became a collector of many items. Marion also loved football and enjoyed having a fantasy football team every year.
Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife of fifty years, Kathy (Clark) Adkins; daughters, Ann Marie (Anthony) Darling, Amy (Shawn) Brown and Katrina (Ron) Weddle; six grandchildren, Ashley (Collin) Kennedy, Austin (Erinn) Darling, Tyler and Carson Brown and Dylan and Jordan Weddle; six great grandchildren, Bentley, Baylen, Kylie and Bo Kennedy and Haisley and Hadley Darling; sister, Monta (Mike) Riggs; mother-in-law, Maxine Clark and lifelong friend, Jerry Jordan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by father-in-law, Wendell Clark and brother-in-law, Terry Clark.
Services will be at 12:00 pm Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Anthony Darling officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service. Due to Covid-19 and the governor’s mandate, face coverings will be required.
