Martin G. Jones, 74, a resident of Knightstown passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born December 28, 1944 in Henry County to the late William and Helen (Collins) Jones.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired from INDOT after 35 years of service. Martin attended the Knightstown Church of God where he served as a deacon for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage and smoking cigars on the porch. Martin was a people person with a good sense of humor who never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years: Marilyn Kay Jones of Knightstown; a daughter: Kimberly (James) Simpson of Brooksville, KY; two sons: Willie (Tammy) Jones and David (Amber) Jones, both of Knightstown; four grandchildren: Shelby, Addison, Grace and Amanda; two great- grandchildren: Carter and Isaiah; two brothers: Donald (Robin) Jones of Mt. Summit and Warren (Belinda) Jones of New Castle; several cousins, nieces, nephews and church family.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Reverends Elwood and Rick Evans officiating. Military rites will be conducted by a contingent of the U.S. Army and the Knightstown American Legion. Entombment will be in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown at the convenience of the family.
