Mary K. "Nicki" Hunt

Mary K. ("Nicki") Hunt passed away on August 16, 2018 at Glen Oaks Health Campus.

Nicki was born on April 1st, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Walter (Volodymyr) and Rose (Rosalia) Krushelnicki.

She attended Michigan State College (now Michigan State University) and met her future husband there, Herve H. Hunt, where they were both students, and also both members of the University Chorus. They were married on September 12, 1942, and through the years raised 5 wonderful children.

Nicki was employed in New Castle as a Nursing Secretary at Henry County Hospital for 19 years, and upon retirement served 16 additional years there as a Hospital Volunteer.

Nicki was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in New Castle, served on the Altar Guild in previous years, and was a member of The Daughters of The King.

Preceding her in death were her parents Walter and Rose, her husband, Herve, her sister, Caroline Lachowski, two daughters, Jennifer J. Hunt and Barbara A. Hunt Crook, and granddaughter, Lisa C. Hunt.

Nicki is survived by 2 sons, Lawrence (Christine) Hunt of Delaware, OH, and Roger (Debra) Hunt of Granger, IN, and one daughter, Marilyn (Henry) Leonardi of Eastpointe, MI.

Surviving 10 grandchildren are: Cheryl (Eric) Gongora of Cumming, GA, Rebecca (Greg) Lehman of Silver Springs, FL, Matthew (Elizabeth) Hunt of Colorado Springs, CO, Yvonne Schwall of Warren, MI, Erin (Peter) Gavula of Delaware, OH, Lauren (Nick) Milovich of South Bend, IN, Jennifer (Joseph) Haley of Southport, IN, John (Gretchen) Huntzer of Indianapolis, IN, Katelyn Leonardi of Eastpointe, MI, and Samantha Leonardi of Eastpointe, MI.


Also 9 great grandchildren: Ian Hunt, Lia Milovich, Graham Milovich, Luci Gavula, Audrey Gongora, Elizabeth Haley, Alyssa Haley, Olivia Haley, and Joseph Haley the 3rd.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle, IN, with Father Whitney Smith officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition, New Castle, IN. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
