Mary Ann Whelchel

Mary Ann Whelchel, 58, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Henry Community Health. She was born October 7, 1958 in Rushville to the late Benjamin and Hazel (Cotton) Conley.

She was a member of East Side Church of the United Brethren in Christ. Mary loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting dolls, arts and crafts and helping others. Mary had also volunteered at the New Castle Community School Corp. helping children.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Rob Whelchel; sons, Matthew (Summer) Whelchel, Christopher (Akiko) Whelchel; grandchildren, Grace Butler, Weston Whelchel and Nicolas Whelchel; siblings, Madeline Lee Conley, Geneva Diane (James Michael) Willey, Paul McGinus (Brenda Kay) Conley, Theresa Kay Kimball, Donald Michael Conley, Benjamin Thomas (Lenore) Conley, Carl Elva (Marsha) Conley, Randy D. (Jeanelle) Conley, Jeffrey Alen Conley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant brother, Benjamin Conley Jr.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Phil Miles officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G.
