Melvin O. Manning Jr.

Melvin O. Manning, Jr., 64, of New Castle passed away Saturday morning, July 16, 2022 at I.U. Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born March 25, 1958 in Lafayette, Indiana, a son of Melvin O. and Marilyn (Gardner) Manning, Sr.
Melvin was raised in Knightstown, where he attended Knightstown High School. He was a reliable truck driver, working for many companies. Melvin enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, boating, cookouts with family & friends and spending time with his puppy dog, Sage Marie. In 2009, Melvin was diagnosed with multiple myeloma; shortly after he had a stem cell transplant followed by chemo for several years then in December of 2021, he received a CAR-T Cell transplant and was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Survivors include his father, Melvin (Carol) Manning; wife, “his queen” Judy Manning; children, Brooke Erin Wood, Brandi (Justin) Small, Tyler Manning (Jodi Howard), Colton Manning (Shay Zulaski) and his mother, Lisa Warner, Shane (Danielle) Benjamin, Sean Benjamin; bonus children, Nathan Abernathy (Aria Hawk), Donnie (Lindsey) Martin, Vincent Farris (Christina Schmitter), Kristtal Wells, Breonna Smith (Dakota Stinson); grandchildren, Macey Vicars, Vinson Benjamin, Kennedy Vicars, Hudson Manning, Presley Widner; bonus grandchildren, Taniah and Trace Abernathy, Taylor Lewis, Alexis Brooks, Spencer Farris, Charlie McNealy, Zayvn Wells, Waylon Hershberger; sisters, Valerie Manning, Karen (Donald) Wells, Connie (Mark) Tompkins; father in law, William T. (Norma) Pugh; mother in law, Phyllis Jean (Gary) Beatty; 1st wife, Teresa Roland Manning and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Manning; grandson, Cameron Wood and a sister, Virginia Ottinger.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
