Melvin L.”Mick” Selman, 90, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 in Hickory Creek of New Castle. He was born August 25, 1927 in Sabetha, Kansas, a son of the late James N. and Alice R. (Lewman) Selman.
Mick was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle after many years of service. He was a member of the UAW Local #371, and the American Legion, Post #152.
An avid Nascar fan, Mick also enjoyed riding his garden tractors, mowing his lawn and many of his neighbor’s lawns.
He is survived by his wife, Meritha R. Selman of New Castle, daughters, Linda (Doug) Head of Ft. Wayne, and Valerie (Steve) Davis of Greens Fork; grandchildren, Eric Jones of Greens Fork, and Trisha (Sammy) LeMaster of Ft. Wayne; great grandchildren, Justin LeMaster (fiancé, Danica Hinostrosa, and her daughter, Trinity) of Ft. Wayne, Kannon and Hadley Jones, both of Greens Fork, and Christopher Head of Indianapolis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Head, and a brother Carl Selman.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Military Rites will be conducted at 4 p.m., Monday at the funeral home, and provided by the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a contingent from the U.S. Army.
