Mertie E. Richmond, 81, of Carthage, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born November 19, 1939 in Vanceburg, Kentucky a daughter of James and Icy (Stone) Dyer.
Mertie retired from the Knightstown Children’s Home where she served for several years in housekeeping and food service.
She is survived by children, Rayburn Richmond of Carthage, Marketta Humes of Carthage, Brenda Richmond of Woodville, OH, Shelle Richmond of Carthage, Joe (Jeri) Richmond of Carthage and Robert Richmond of Carthage; grandchildren, Brittney Schroeder, Joni Lawson, Anna (JJ) Fensler and Bobby (Jody) Richmond; 6 great grandchildren, Khloe Schroeder, Ellie Lawson, Mallorie Graham, Everlie and Bobbie Richmond, Mason Cash; sisters, Martha Shorey of Carthage, Rosemary (Chuck) Kirby of Carthage; a brother, William (Elveta) Dyer of Woodville, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby E. Richmond; a son, James E. Richmond; three siblings, Margaret Smalley, Wade Dyer and Molly Dick.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, December 7, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Rev. Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Carthage Cemetery.
