Michael W. “Mike” Cole, 67, of New Castle, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at Henry Community Health. He was born May 16, 1951 in Shelbyville a son of Carter and Alice (Wall) Cole.
A 1969 graduate of Franklin Central High School, Mike graduated from Ivy Tech with an Associate’s degree in Nursing. He was a registered nurse at several hospitals over the years, including Hancock Memorial, Henry County Memorial, Ball Memorial, Community-Indianapolis, and most recently Reid Memorial, from where he retired.
Mike served as a paramedic with Wishard Ambulances and was a firefighter on the Acton Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed camping, fishing, riding motorcycles, and playing waterball. He was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association.
Mike is survived by his wife, Brenda Cole of New Castle; children, Shawn Cole of Indianapolis, Michael (Jamie) Cole of Westport, Richard (Cassie) Cole of TX, Stephanie Jones of FL, Rebecca (Rich) Gregory of Greenfield; two step sons, Jeremy (Amanda) Hedges and Joshua (Emily) Hedges both of New Castle; 17 grandchildren; one great grandchild; 3 sisters, Karen (Fred) Wainscott of Fountaintown, Jeanine Kinser of Indianapolis, Kim (Steve) Fitch of Lebanon, TN; one brother, Charles (Linda) Cole of Rising Sun, IN; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pam Bergeron.
Services will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
