Michael A. McCaslin

April 1, 1957 — October 14, 2020

Michael A. McCaslin, 63, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born April 1, 1957 in New Castle, a son of the late Delmar Gene and Elsie Jane (Chesher) McCaslin.

Mike entered the U.S. Army during his Junior year in high school, where he excelled in the 82nd Airborne Division, attaining the rank of drill sergeant at the time of his separation. He was a member of the American Legion Post #137 in New Castle. Being born on April Fool’s Day was very appropriate for him, as he had a great sense of humor and loved to have fun. He loved fiercely and dearly loved his parents. He enjoyed bowling and fishing, as was a past member of the Moose Lodge in New Castle.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Laura McCaslin of New Castle; children, Christopher (Norma) McCubbins of New Castle, Samantha McCaslin (Rich) of South Bend, IN, and Michael Zielske (Kelsey) of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter, and Hayden McCubbins, Dustin Jackson, Bekah Mengedoht, and Jarrett Volz; several great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Carole Hubbard of Knoxville, TN; his siblings, Delmar “Jr” (Sherry) McCaslin of Pershing, IN, Linda McCaslin of New Castle, Kelly (Evelyn) McCaslin of New Castle, and Shelly (John) Rillaerts of Ocklawaha, FL; sisters-in-law, Irene Wilke of Littleton, CO and Theresa Krieg of Phoenix, AZ; several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar G. and E. Jane McCaslin.
