Nettie F. Michelson

Nettie F. (Thrasher) Michelson, 90, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle following an extended illness. She was born November 28, 1929 in New Castle, a daughter of the late James Virgil and Artie (Smith) Thrasher.
Nettie was employed in different roles in the nursing field; hospitals, nursing homes and physician’s offices. She lived in Illinois for many years before returning to New Castle in 2005. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star Berwyn Chapter #529 and the Indiana Nurses Association. She was involved with the Foster Grandparent Program with ICAP for several years in the local elementary schools, and volunteered at Cradles in New Castle.
She leaves three sons, Carl (Laura) Michelson of Lewisville, TX, Leif Michelson of Bartlett, IL, and Eric Michelson of Bartlett, IL; granddaughters, Jenifer (Gregg) Michelson DeAtley, Felicia Michelson and Joanna Michelson; grandsons, Vincent Michelson, Zachary Michelson, Jacob (Samantha) Michelson, Robert (Traci) Michelson, great grandchildren, Waylon, Juna, and Leah; brother, Earl (Sue) Thrasher of Muncie; several nieces and nephews; sister in law, Donna Thrasher of Indianapolis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Michelson in 1987; sisters, Vina Robinson and Anna Lines; brothers, Harmon, James, Donald and Ramie Thrasher.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Dustin Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Summit Cemetery.
