Ottis David Fairchild, 93, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at his residence. He was born November 24, 1926 in Cooper, Kentucky to the late Fount and Minnie (Slagle) Fairchild.
Dave attended school in Lewisville then proudly served his Country in the Navy aboard the USS Abnaki from 1944-1946 during WWII. He said he joined the Navy to see the world. Retiring from Chrysler in 1979, after 33 years of service, Dave enjoyed watching Stock Car and Go-kart racing and would travel to Florida to watch the Daytona 500 and even raced himself at Mt. Lawn Speedway. He was always willing to help anyone out that was in need.
He is survived by his sister, Ollie (Bill) Lee of New Castle, David (Cathy) Simpkins of New Castle who was like a son to Dave; Seth (Cheyanne) Simpkins and Kyle Simpkins who he thought of as his grandchildren; special nephew, Eddie (Annie) Fairchild; along with many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ottis is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma June; brothers, AJ, Wallace, Dewey, Parker, Bob, Hershel and Dean Fairchild; sisters, Gladys Nosler and Onely Huffman.
Visitation will be Monday, November 16, 2020 from 11-1 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with burial to follow at South Mound West Lawn Addition Cemetery.
