Patricia Nichols

Patricia Nichols, 92, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Heritage House of New Castle. She was born October 23, 1928 in Hartford City, Indiana, a daughter of the late Clarence and Leona B. (Craig) Shatto.

She was a 1947 graduate of Hartford City High School and a 1951 graduate of Ball State School of Nursing. Pat retired from Henry County Memorial Hospital where she worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years. She was a longtime member of First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle where she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed cooking, needlework, traveling and entertaining. Pat loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include three children; Patricia Ann Fields of Cambridge City, James R. Nichols of New Castle and Rebecca S. (Mark) Davisson of New Castle; grandchildren, Angie (Mark) Fields, Patty (Bobby) Alcorn, Chad (Suzanne) Thompson, John (Suzanna) Davisson, Andy (Kristin) Davisson, Emily (Michael) Poff, James Nichols, Jr. and Brittany Nichols; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Davis of Warren, Michigan and Ruth James of Huddy, Kentucky; several nieces & nephews; three sisters-in-law, Mary Nichols, Marilyn Nichols and Pat Lee. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Heritage House Nursing Home, Henry County Hospice and Dr. Robert Stevenson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Lawrence; an infant son, Gregory Paul Nichols; siblings, John Lee, Geraldine Crabtree, Helen Wise and Alvin Shatto; daughter-in-law, Karen Nichols and son-in-law, Steve Fields.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors James Nichols and Danny Goddard officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
