Patricia “Patty” Ann Tribby passed away January 6, 2021 at Rush County Hospital. She was born in Rushville on August 19 to the late Walter and Marie (Alexander) Tribby.
Patty was a lifelong member of the Carthage community; it was her pride and joy. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1964 and right away went to work at Western Electric Company for 17 years. After Western Electric Company closed, she was employed by Charles A. Beard School Corporation until retirement. Upon retirement, she found light in running Marie’s Variety Store, a family owned business in the Carthage community that was a local favorite from 1953 until her passing. Patty always looked forward to seeing the children and families of the community come into her store and purchase the famous “Penny Candy” that many era’s of Carthage got the opportunity to enjoy. Patty never treated someone like a stranger, everyone was a friend of Patty’s and her social persona invited all people into her life. Patty was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority- Alpha Kappa Chapter and had received her 50 year pin by serving her community with philanthropic services.
Patty is survived by her half-sister, Ruth Ellen Tribby of Indianapolis and many cousins, friends and neighbors.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 2:00pm Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington, IN. Visitation will be from 1-2pm prior to the service on Saturday.
