Lifetime New Castle resident Paul R. Lorton went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his home. He was born to Warren (New Castle fire chief) and Vera (Utt) Lorton on February 1, 1930. He graduated from New Castle High School in 1948 and served for two years as a medic in the Korean War.
Paul married Oleta Coleman in October 1955, and they have two daughters. He worked for Indiana Gas for 30 years before retiring in 1990. He enjoyed cheering on the Trojans, riding horses, farming, fixing things, country music, football, helping others and the outdoors.
In addition to his wife, Oleta, left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Dianna (Mark) Dalton of New Castle and Brenda (Bob) Tackett of Carmel; grandchildren, Tim Dalton, Cheri Tackett, Tammy (David) Bright, Micah Tackett and Abby Tackett. He is also survived by two brothers, Doug (Cathy) Lorton of New Castle and Don (Marianne) Lorton of Huntington; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Shirley) Coleman of Minnesota, Orlin Coleman of Zionsville and Daryl Coleman of New Castle, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Francis Lorton and sisters, Martha Bertram, Phyllis Reed and Marilyn Perry.
He will be forever loved and missed.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Jim Becker officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Garden.
