Paul E. Niles

July 31, 1935 — October 18, 2020

Paul E. Niles, 85, of New Castle passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Spring Mill Meadows in Indianapolis. He was born July 31, 1935 in New Castle, a son of the late Charles S. and Ida S. (Greer) Niles.

A 1952 graduate of New Castle High School, he retired from Chrysler Corporation after 35 years of service, where he served an apprenticeship in machine repair and was Maintenance Supervisor for over 25 of those years. An avid antique car collector, Paul was a member of the local Old Farts Car Club, and was a member of the national W.P. Chrysler Car Club, which took him and his wife, Rosemary all over the North America. A longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle, he was also an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th degree. He always tried to be charitable and lively, and lived by the motto, “to whom much is given, much will be required (Luke 12:48).”

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Theresa (Mike) Arness-Kohtz of Indianapolis; a son, Paul Kelly Niles of Manistee, MI; grandchildren, Andrew (Hilary) Arness of Indianapolis and Caroline (Ian) Starnes of Sarasota, FL; his sister, Rebecca Niles of New Castle; sister-in-law, Sue Niles of West Chester, OH; several nieces and nephews and a great niece.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Rosemary (Armstrong) Niles in October 2019; a son, Perry Edward Niles; two brothers, Logan H. Niles and Eugene Niles, and two infant brothers.
