Peggy Ann (Agee) Bates

Peggy Ann (Agee) Bates, 65, of New Castle passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on June 7, 1955 in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of the late Luther and Dora (Pennycuff) Agee.

She had been employed at Salvation Army and was a Foster Grandparent. She had previously worked as a bartender at the Shag Room, Bamboo Inn and Twilight Club in New Castle. Peggy enjoyed playing BINGO, coloring, playing slot machines and poker games. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include son, Shane Smeltzer (companion Amanda Custer); grandchildren, Macy (Joel) Thompson of Cambridge City, Lillian Smeltzer of Indianapolis, Parker Smeltzer (companion, Abbey Jones) of New Castle and Carter Smeltzer of New Castle; three great grandchildren, Cordel Thompson, Ezra Thompson and Athena Smeltzer; two sisters, Jo Garrett of New Castle and Janet Barnes of New Castle; nieces and nephews, Jackie (Samuel) Porter of New Castle, Joann (Roy) Goens of Tennessee, Scott Massengale of Kentucky, Amy Davis of Kentucky, Debbie Agee of Anderson, Melissa Agee of Anderson, Brian Agee of New Castle, Bradley Agee of New Castle, Lesa Agee of New Castle, Leslie (Larry) Mitchell of Mt. Summit, Dustie Daffron (companion, David Davis) of new Castle, Glenda (Larry) Huff of Kentucky, Tracy Agee of New Castle and Tammy Conger of Connersville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sister, Zora VanArsdall and Lana Bennett; brothers, Ernest, Edward & David Agee; nephew, Wayne Cooper and great granddaughter, Sapphira McDougall.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 901 West National Road, Cambridge City, IN 47327, and will last all day with music, food, laughter and love. Everyone Welcome.
