Phyllis J. Mullen, 89, a resident of New Castle passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 20, 1929 in New Castle to the late Raymond Kinsey and Bessie (Howell)Kinsey Hutchins.
Phyllis retired from Modernfold Corp. in New Castle and was previously employed at the New Castle State Hospital. A member of First Baptist Church, she enjoyed reading, crocheting and traveling, especially to visit family in Washington State.
Survivors include three daughters: Treasa (Jim) Russell of Squim, WA, Myra Sue (Bob) Turner of Newark, OH and Vanessa Brummett of New Castle; two brothers: Richard Kinsey of New Castle and Paul (Robin) Hutchins of New Mexico; a sister: Pat Shepperd of Washington; twelve grandchildren: Jeff, Amanda, Owen, Sarah, Amy, Nick, Stephanie, Aaron, Jonas, Daniel, Cherish and Adorea; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William C. Mullen; a daughter: Rhonda; a son: Bill; a sister: Helen; a son-in-law: Jeff; sister-in-law: Joyce Kinsey; two brothers-in-law: John Shepperd and George “Buster” Miers.
Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Friday, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent Hospice or Henry County Humane Society.
